Gallet & Co.Gallet & Co. (Gallet & Cie.) started in La Chaux-de-Fonds, being registered there in 1826. A brief history of the company may be seen on the Gallet Website Timeline and in Leon L. Gallet's obituary published upon his death in 1899.
The Gallet - Eaton ConnectionGallet & Co. is perhaps known best in North America for having supplied privately labeled watches to the Timothy Eaton Co., a large Canadian retail store and Mail-Order company, headquartered in Toronto, Ont.
The following information is from the Gallet Website Timeline:
The Eaton WatchesNo doubt the Railway grade movements that were offered are best exemplified by the lever-set, 23-jewel Interocean grade, available in both 18-Size, as a Waltham model 92 look-a-like and 16-Size. These watches were mostly adjusted to six positions, but a few have been seen that are only adjusted to five positions. The models were available in lesser grades, including the railroad grade 18-size, 21-jewel movement and 16-size, 21-jewel movement, both lever-set and adjusted to five positions. Curiously, the 18-size Gallet-Eaton, 21-jewel model wasn't described as a railroad grade watch.
Gallet in the U.S.Following WWI, Gallet watches were distributed in the United States by the Lorraine Watch Co.
Gallet movements are pictured and described on Ranfft Watches' Pink Pages for Timepieces, organized by calibre number (once on the page, search for Gallet).
