Zenith Pocket Watch

First stop for help identifying any information about this watch. The only numbers are located on the inside back cover: Metal 0 9 7 1 4 8. I suspect this watch was manufactured between 1910 - 1930. I appreciate any help. Thanks....

Your guess for age is reasonable but if we could see the serial number on the watch we could give you a better date.

It is good watch but it is entry level.

Metal means base metal.

I figured metal meant metal. The only numbers on the watch is the 0 9 7 1 4 8 stamped inside the back cover. Thanks

It’s stamped zenith at the bottom, but no other discernible numbers or letters. What would the 097148 be if not a serial number? I’m planning on selling the watch and I want to make sure I’m offering at a fair price. I should point out the watch is working fine, though I haven’t nailed down exactly how often it needs to be rewound.

Watch movement and cases were usually separate. There are exceptions and it is possible that the case number matches the movement number.

I have a reference that gives a start date for Zenith as 1865 and that they were up to number 2,000,000 by 1920. That does not help.

My books do not show this movement so it is before about 1930.

Zenith made a lot ofwatches in World War ! os if the case number is the serial number it could be as early as 1890.

Let us know when it comes up for sale because we remove links to ongoing sales.

Most pocket watch get wound once a day.
