• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I have this Zaanse clock with a Hermle 261 in for replacement. The pendulum bob is a loose fit on the leader and will rotate as it goes. How where these fit initially? The leader is threaded but the bob is not and it slides over the threads. I put a nut under it. Did the bob have threads at one time? Thanks, Danny

There is usually a flat spring that applies pressure between the pendulum rod and the horse. The horse will still rotate but the friction from the spring will keep it in position, once it's placed in position.

No. As far as I know they all had a nut.

If the bob was threaded, it would mean that you could regulate up or down only in full turns. That would be a rather coarse regulation.

The spring makes a lot of sense. Since I don't have much I use some of Willie X's. Thanks, Danny

Most springs are about 1" wide and about 5/16" wide. It would have a slight bow from end to end with a vertical crease made in the middle. The crease locates the spring left and right. It's made similar to a clock's fly governor but simpler.

I've never encountered a horse like yours. Are you sure it wasn't home made by someone? I would only be concerned with the weight though.

The horse is shown from the back side. That makes it look quite crude.
