Hi,
Wonder if anyone can give me some advise?!
About 15 years ago someone gave me a lovely Zaanse clock that hadn`t been working for years.
I have had it hanging and lying about all this time without looking to see why it wasn`t working.
Until now that is; took the movement out and it seems that the escapement wheel is on the lose side. ( sorry, don`t really know the right terminology.)
If I manually move the pendulum the wheel slightly falls back and therefore there is no power to the pendulum at all. If I apply a a tiny bit of pressure to the wheel it runs as it should.

My question is; is this easy to repair and is it a job for the professional?
Hope this all makes sense.

Many thanks

Hi
It depends, a picture or two would help. Do you mean the ES wheel is not in the center of the anchor?

It sounds like power loss, and probably indicates a good cleaning and probably some bushings are needed.

If it really is a Zaanse clock, not a sort of repro, it will have a verge escapement, therefore no anchor.

We really need some pictures of the problem. Are you saying the escape wheel is loose, i.e. it's not attached to its arbor?

Whatever, it should not be too difficult to repair - what experience and small tools do you have?
