    Hi all,

I am fixing a zaandam clock for a friend.

    My questions are:

How on earth do I hang the pendulum on this clock?, as it is behind a glass window.

I can see no way of doing it, other than hanging the pendulum first, then putting the clock on the wall afterwards. Seems a bit 'crude' to me.

And also, once the pendulum is hung, how do I set the beat? As I can not get to the crutch unless I take the clock off the wall again!!!!

Seems a bit ridiculous to me!

Small pic attached of the exact type of clock.

    Thanks

    Mike

Mike, what you describe is typical on these. I usually set the crutch to be in the middle, which is usually pretty good for in beat. If it's out a bit, it's "take it off the wall and try again" time. Not the best design.

    Hi there Harold,

    What an awful design!

    Well at least I know.

It is a bit of a pain, as these clocks are heavy!!!!

For those interested, the faults with this clock were: A twisted suspension spring (which only allowed the clock to tick for 30 seconds or so before it stopped), and the EW bushing on the rear plate had somehow become very 'tight' to the pivot and was preventing the wheel from spinning nicely.

    Cheers

    Mike
