    Hi guys

    New to the forum.

I've just bought a clock I dont know much about it so hoping the image's below with throw some light on it.

Problem with the clock i that it was kept up in an attic that was leaking water and the clock had several years of water damage, the wood is solid enough with no rot its just the ply wood skin that is on the top and front have become slightly rippled in places, see pics below, I'm just wondering the best way to go about restoring it, sand it down or replace the outer wood skin, its shamefull how anyone could leave a clock like this in the attic.

Mechanical wise it's flawless and runs fine and has a beautiful Westminster, whittington and St michaels chime.

Ok decided to do the outer veneer the wood underneath was in a right state due to water damage and lifting in places but all sorted now and it's coming along quite nicely now.

That's quite an improvement - remarkable in fact. I'm impressed. How many hours do you have in it?

Thanks Tom, its taken a good week to get it sorted and counting.

More shots, hoping to get the movement in later this week I'm hoping my new main springs will be here so I can finally finish it.

Wow!...I definitely have to hand it to you  on the restoration of that beautiful clock!

That clock is simply stunning and I agree, how could anyone just leave such a beautiful time piece such as that, abandon up in the addict (or any place isolated for that matter?)

You've done an excellent job restoring it.

Could you post pictures of what the final outcome of the restoration process of the clock?

Nice work on the finish. What's the white stuff you were using? Did you re-veneer the whole case?
