would like some history on my clock and if anyone knows a reputable company in my area that could get it working. I have the weight and key.

You've come to the right place for help, but it's hard to provide repair advice without knowing your location.

Better pictures and one of the back with the door open would also help.

The item you described as the weight is most likely the pendulum bob. This clock is spring driven.

It is called a tambour style.

    And welcome to the board!

Is the name on the clock William I or William L ?
Also is there a town or anything saying where he was ?
It makes it possible to look up maker or original sellers details

It could make ot possible to find more details about the maker or original seller

I am going to gues it is William L because-
Loomes Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World lists:-
    Gilbert William L Winsted (Conn USA} 1850 to 1866

It's not that old. I'm guessing it was made in the 1920s. Willie X
