I deleted them. After I posted this thread, I realized it was basically a repeat of another thread that was already underway with the same movement. You in fact are a part of that discussion and already helped me in my issues with my dad's mantle clock.Your attachments do not open for me.
I'm not sure I know what a carriage clock is actually. This is a mantle clock made by Emperor Clock Co. It does have bim bam hammers and rods as you call them though. It sounds like crap. I've tried to adjust the movement up a little so the hammers aren't so close to the rods and this helped a little, but one or two of the hammers still does a double strike. I wonder if there's a weak spring in there?Hey, Kenny. Is yours a small wooden Carriage clock? I have one of those with bim bam hammers and rods
Yes, every 1/4 hour. I cleaned the balance as described in the other thread using lighter fluid and it is running much better now. Dad has 2 mantle clocks and the other one has the same problem so I'm taking this one back to him and I'll do this exercise all over again tomorrow. What does it chime on the 1, 2, and 3/4 hours?
