Just ready to start rebuild on a ST grandfather movement A 403-009 from 1978. There is a chrome plated pin just above the chime correction lever. There is no groove for a spring or e-clip and doesn't appear to serve any purpose. It protrudes just barely into the movement, with no room to connect anything to it. At first I thought that it was a stop for the long lever, but it is a bit to high for that, as the lever stops a good .060 below it. Circled in red in the photos. Educate me!

My guess is to stop the rack from flipping over too far to the right.

To keep the one below it company, so it doesn't get lonely.

    What Ecky said.

It's a Hermle movement. At 42 years old it would be past due for a lot of work or a new replacent movement.

Way past due, but I got this just to practice on. What with all this virus goin' around, not much work coming in.
