What am I missing?

I have a friend's clock which has had an accident and was not known to work previously. It never-the-less seems to be intact except that the suspension spring is broken and I can't see a way of attaching a replacement suspension spring. I have not yet dismantled the clock which appears to have a deadbeat escapement and no evidence of a maker's name, simply a serial number. Nothing appears to be broken. How was the suspension spring attached? Am I missing a suspension post or am I simply being dumb?

Hi skinnb1-

Your movement slides into a bracket inside the case and the suspension spring is attached to a post on the bracket. So, what you are looking for is inside the case .

Exactly. It is also possible that there is a post for the suspension spring mounted directly to the case and not to the bracket. Just take a look at the back board of the case.

Thanks both. Being dumb I suppose. Of course I left the case with the friend because it needed some repair to the woodwork.
