Found at a Fea Market, running with a gentle shake is my newest addition! Best thing about it, it's easy to get past the boss! :chuckling: It could use those missing back screws! If anyone has them please let me know!

Initially I thought that this green fellow in the left photo is part of the clock :D.

Cheers, Bernhard

P.S.: I do not see missing screws? The movement would seem to be fixed in the case with the three central screws being present. Do you mean something for the holes left and up? Would there be something originally, and with what function?

It may be a foolish idea, but since those holes seem to show pivots behind them, and are not threaded, could this be a way of allowing the pivots to be oiled without taking the case off? (The hole might have had little plugs originally)

It would be odd, not the best way to oil, and I've never seen the like of this before, but it's all I can think if.

It's just a thought; no doubt some Big Ben expert will know better.

In all the photos of this clock I have seen there are 4 screw heads showing in those 4 holes in the back of the case. Watching a disassemble on YouTube, those 3 screws around the set knob come off. The wind knobs are removed and the back comes off. Then the 4 screws are removed and the inner back piece comes off showing the movement. So those 4 screws are not holding the back of the clock on!

Maybe we're talking about different screws holding the back on. I agree with you on the three screws in the center, the knobs, and the winding handles. It appears to me there are a number of screws around the outer edge that sit in slotted holes. I can only see one of those in the upper right. I suspect that when those screws in the slots are loosened, then the whole back cover turns and comes off revealing the back plate. The movement would still be on the other side of the back plate. That's what I see.

This is what most look like with those screws in those holes where mine are missing. I did see one on Ebay like mine without those screws, but hard too know if they are just missing or just a different model.

Hmmm...I see what you mean. Makes me wonder how your clock is held together if those larger screws are missing? :?|

The 3 screws around the wind knob hold the outer back on. I know there are a lot of Westclox collectors out there like me that would know!

Well, looks as if my foolish thought was indeed just that. Not for the first time and surely won't be the last!

But those holes still don't look threaded to me. Maybe just the camera angle.
