Hi all, I recently picked up this WEWC, case and movement are badged properly, but the dial says Zabina.

I'm unable to find anything on mikrolisk, or elsewhere online, in regards to Zabina and I was hoping someone here may be able to shed some light on the subject.

I've attached some pics, as you can see it needs a bit of work, but a touch of oil seems to have got it running nicely.

    Thanks in advance

    Dan

To my eye the dial says SABINA, not Zabina. If so, you can find Sabina for yourself if you look in mikrolisk. Montres Sabina SA was the trading company of Paul-Virgile Mathez.

I did think of that, unfortunately I can find any of the sabina watch logos that match all are either on the slope of have the S above the name. Close up the S looks more like the Latin Z that looks like a 3, as per the pic.

Guess it is a nice little puzzle that may eventually throw up an answer, fingers crossed.

    Thanks for the reply

It is an FHF movement. More likely an FHF 72 though it could be an FHF 96. Usually though the 96 was stamped ST.

    The 72 started production 1960
    The 96, 1965.

That's the time frame I've been searching, but with no joy in regards to the name on the dial. I guess it's going to be a deep rabbit hole, if only all these companies kept proper records it would make our lives a lot easier

No mention of Sabina here. West End Watch Co.

Though I have boxes full of dials that fit such watches. Every one has a different name on them. Yes they are all new dials never been fitted to a watch precisely fo the purpose of fixing a ruined dial. I'd say by the look of the watch that the owner/s were not aware of the history of waterproof watch cases.

I agree with JTD in the second post, to my eye it says Sabina.
This also may be a replacement dial.
