• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

One of my very early acquisitions - an empty case, I fitted this with a Hermle movement. My son became it's curator a few years ago but recently the Hermle cratered.
Excited, that last week I found a Time Only Welch Calendar and bought it, now have my doubts. Clearly there are two previous winding holes, so I suppose ( asking ) this clock may have come in two versions?
One can easily see the bob is too high in the window as PL incorrect for this clock. Could anyone describe the original pendulum?
Did it have a wooden rod or just hang over a wire leader? Apx. dia. of bob?

They came as time only and time and strike. The bob may have been about 2" diameter, brass over lead, on a wire hanger with rating nut. No wooden rod on these that I've ever seen.

Scottie,

As with with most things, ya just have to think this one through.;)

If the bob isn't in the center of the glass (approximately) you will need to make a new suspension rod and spring. Can't assume anything is original. Stay with the typical 2" brass bob with wire leader and play with the other factors (suspension spring, rod length, etc.) to try to get it regulated to be "in the ball park".

Apparently Welch made these in many different versions. Yours appears to be the "Octagon" which is a short drop, 24 x 16 1/2 with a 12" dial OR their other, same named Octagon version: 24 x 17 with an 11" dial.

Apparently there were also others. Tell us the EXACT dimensions of the case (if different than the ones I mentioned) and maybe we can identify it more accurately. :)

Yeah. Guess I'll have a movement to restore and resell as original was T/S.
Yeah, 12" dial, and I KNOW movement not original. I installed it and know why it's too short.
Guess I'll resume my search for a T/S Welch. Anybody have one? PM me please. THANKS!
