Wednesday Coffee and Horology 9-13-2023
To all and then some,
At this week's meeting some of the regulars were missing; however, new faces appeared. Welcome and we're glad you will be bringing questions and thoughts.
How does a 1957 two door Chevy fit into a horological show and tell? The new MART has the answer.
Looking for another book that might satisfy your craving for some horological history? Frank suggested "Keeping Watch, A History of American Time", by Michael O'Malley. Amazon's review describes the read as "Focusing on the period from 1820 to 1920, Keeping Watch details the far-reaching changes in American society brought about by the transition from natural to mechanical sources of time - from farmers' almanacs and religious formulations of time to regional time zones, synchronized watches, and factory punch clocks." Look for it at your favorite on-line used book store.
One way to get a piece of convex glass into a French clock's bezel was discussed. Attendees to the meeting added suggestions and alternatives.
Chapter outreach at the up-coming Louisville Marker Faire was shared. Check the web page for a Maker Faire in a city near you. Eric remembers the excitement generated at last year's event.
Chapter 35's Clocktoberfest is coming up. Mark your calendar and RSVP.
