I’m currently in the process of restoring this Waterbury “Willard No.5” banjo clock for a customer. The only problem remaining is what can or should be done with the lower tablet? The throat glass is perfect. Movers didn’t remove the pendulum. The stick broke and the bob managed to scrape off almost the entire tablet. Part of the border remains and appears to be gold, which matches the border in the throat glass. The “picture” was Mt. Vernon and a faint outline of the image remains. I would like to be able to give the owner some options, but so far all I have found is a commercial replacement with a plain border and a rather “unsharp” looking image. Does anyone know of a source for better quality replacement banjo tablets, and/or can anyone recommend someone who might be able to restore or repaint the original glass?
