Hi all, The price was good enough to take a chance on it even though I knew the bottom was missing and not exactly sure what it was. Now at home searching the internet, I believe it to be the 57. Besides the bottom missing a few other things bother me . It does not have the beading around the crown at the top that that I see on others. The weights look a little long? I also see there is supposed to be wood surrounding the dial but I don't see any evidence of any wood blocking or nail holes for the blocking to secure that missing wood. There is no key hole on the side for the door only a simple latch hook. However I did see that on another clock. There is no evidence of Waterbury on the dial. I think the hour and minute hand are correct but man are they ugly. The missing beading makes me wonder if this could have been on the end of a production run. Were there subtle difference between these clocks? Would the movement give a clue as to when it was made?
Nice clock... I have the missing bottom! Have had it for ever and been searching for the rest... Lol! Where did you find it? yea the weights should be shorter and fatter.. My #54 has the same movement.
Thanks Kevin. It needs some work though. On closer inspection there are nail holes for blocking, that would hold the wood dial surround. Mark, you are joking about the bottom..right? Don't kid with me like that
Anybody know Mark Chorba? I'm wondering if he's okay? Unfortunately he hasn't been returning his emails or answering his phone.
Beautiful clock JB. BTW, those hands are perfect. If you think they are ugly and want to sell them, give me a shout. I collect Waterbury wall clocks and I need them. I have some other Waterbury hands that I would trade for yours or buy them outright.
Okay, time to get the clock case together. I need to make the bottom shelf just below the door. I'm assuming it is a mirror image of the "top" shelf just above the door. I'm going to have my expert carpenter friend router the edge. My question is, does the profile mirror it or does the profile sit the same way, top and bottom. Hopefully you understand what I'm getting at. Thanks
To answer my own question. Looking at photos, it see it sits in the direction. One more thing though. Below the dial is a skirt, would someone be willing to trace that out on a piece of paper for me, scan it and send it my way? What thickness would that skirt be? It would be much appreciated.
jb - looks great. if/when you get a chance, would you provide dimensions and weight(s) of the weights? i want to compare with my waterbury no. 4 / rosedale: waterbury regulator no. 4 (aka 'rosedale') thx!
