Good afternoon. First post for me. I'm doing my best to find information on my Vanguard but cannot seem to find much and I can't match the dial with the movement. I've only seen the dial only once, and it was a 6 position and I have a 5. This is a long time inherited piece so I'm not concerned about fraud. It is SN# 19062666.

Thanks for any information.

Hi and welcome to the NAWCC Forum

You have a very nice looking Waltham with wind indicator from circa 1913 with Montgomery dial. I'm
sure some experts will tell you more.

Very nice Waltham 23j Vanguard with a Wind Indicator and Montgomery dial - very nice, very desirable railroad watch.

Enjoy & welcome!

Thank you everyone for your helpful information and kind words. Now I just need to find someone to clean it all up nicely, including the dial, oil it, and find the right crystal and bow replacement.

As I think about what needs done I do have two follow up questions. Hopefully someone can help. Is there a a specific crystal shape/thickness to keep it original? The harder one - I've scoured the web to find a case with the same fancy case part where the bow fits in. It seems to have a nice design and I would like to find the correct bow. This is driving me crazy! Has anyone seen a picture of this watch elsewhere?

Thanks, and have a fabulous weekend.

Hi Bill. I highly recommend the gentleman who's ad is in the banner on the right of the screen.---->

Dave will not only have the correct crystal, he'll install it for you at a reasonable price. While he has your watch in hand, he might even be able to fit it with the correct bow, assuming he has one. Shoot him an email and see what he says. I'm confident you'll be pleased.
