• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Hey Dano, Cool watch

Its a Springfield Grade. These came in 7 or 11 jewels (yours is 11). They are slow train (16,200 bph) and came in key or stem wind. An economical choice. I have a couple private labels in this grade and they are great runners.

I don't know about 1877, but probably within the first year or two. It was a popular grade, sometimes it seems like hours are spent just recording this grade in the observation sheet. It accounts for about 15 percent of my list from 1-500,000.

This is from the 1883 Hampden Material Catalog(Courtesy Harvard Library). It shows the various grades in normal Hampden production. The Springfield is on the bottom right
