Would someone be able to confirm if the Model 1860 is a 16200 beat Slow train without having to strip it to count the wheel teeth and pinions leaves, thanks in advance?

Mine has 4 beats/sec by ear. I practice with 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004 ... until I believe I have the 1 second rhythm. Then I count the beats 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4...to determine if they are the same. It would probably be easier to use a stop watch and count 20 beats for example but I would have to get one out.

If you can hear from both ears (which I cannot) you can put the test watch at one ear and a known 18000 BPM watch at the other ear and compare.

The one I just checked sure as heck looks and sounds like 18,000 to me...

(yes, I know that this setting also works for 14,400 but I can't imagine the company using that rate on a high end watch when even the low end full plate models were 16,800 at the time).

Thanks Ben, I thought they would be 18,000 as well but I have dug another out from the bank safe and it keeps perfect time. So I put it on my B300 machine and it will not pick-up on auto, the first one I was talking about also will not pick up on auto either. When I change the beat frequency to manual @ 18,000 it still will not pick up amplitude or beat error, but if set @ 16,200 manually they both immediately registers all measurements and they time in perfectly, I'm just wondering if my timing machine is on the blink?
