My mother won this Solar watch back in the 50's for achievment in 4H.
    No serial numbers visible.
    Silver back.
I saw online this brand was sold by Eatons Canada.

She later went into nursing and needed a watch with a seconds hand. Her brother at the time
was stationed in Germany with the Canadian Military. He bought this Kiefer ladies watch for her.
The back of the Kiefer is marked.

Any information on either the Solar or Kiefer brand of wristwatches would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Solar was a trade name used by quite a number of firms. If you can take the back off the watch and show us the movement, it might be possible to make an identification.

The Kiefer mark is that of Emil Kiefer KG, of Pforzheim, Germany. The company was founded in late 1938 and absorbed into the Unidor GmbH in 1966. Looking at the watch, I would think it was new when your uncle bought it in Germany.

    Others may know more.
