I was very lucky to have been given this rather imposing twin-weight Vienna in a walnut case. The case is in pieces and needs cosmetic attention, and the pendulum rod has snapped at the crutch pin slot, as the clock had apparently been moved with the pendulum attached.
The movement has maintaining power, a dead beat escapement with Vulliamy pallets, and rack striking on a gong. The pivots are very fine. Apart from being quite dirty, the movement looks like it will not require major work. The porcelain dial is virtually pristine. The only mark is a serial number, which reads 24698.
Can anyone suggest a possible maker and date? My first thought was Lenzkirch but this is the first proper weight-driven regulator I’ve dealt with and I know little about them. My wife is likely to throw her hands up in horror when she sees this clock, which measures 52” or over 130cm tall overall, but I have always liked this style of clock and will try to persuade her to find a space for it!
Any advice or info would be much appreciated.
