Vaucher Frères, Duplex, ca. 1830

Here is a "bycatch" from the auction for the Görke precision pendulum clock. Got it for about the gold scrap value (both lids solid 14K), assuming that the case has 25 gramms . Nice to get a duplex movement with relatively early compensation balance "for free" and in its original case. The dial seems to be mint.

Congratulations for the catch, the hair-stud on the inside is unusual so far seen on German movements.

Do you know which Vaucher firm made this? It doesn’t look like a Cinnese market watch, so it may not be the Fleurier company, but there was another Vaucher Freres in Geneva

The auction catalogue says Fleurier. But they may be wrong. I will try to find out (without taking the movement apart at the moment).

Today I received this and what a surprise. It is really amazing that others missed this watch (3-figure price including premium). Look what the cuvette says! Jeweled duplex escapement!

And a lovely case in super condition.

Yes, 'Lifts and Rest Jewelled', which I take to mean both locking and impulse are jewelled, so it is an uncommon combination; they should all have a ruby locking roller, but relatively few have a ruby impulse pallet.

The Jacot Star duples is the only other one I have seen with two jewels.
