• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I recently received a 1919 Waltham Vanguard with wind indicator. It has a broken mainspring. Since this has the wind indicator, it has a gear on the dial side pivot for the motor barrel. The barrel will not separate and I dont want to force it. What is the best way to disassemble this barrel to keep from damaging the winding indicator gear? Do I stake it out?? does it screw out? I am just not sure. (NOTE: this is my first post on these forums. Let me know if I have any etiquette issues :) )

I think this will do better in the Watch Repair forum, where I have moved it.
