    You might like this one; Got tired of removing gut line ingested repeatedly around the winding drum arbor. You could I guess leave it all hang out but then you are just asking for disaster when you snag the line and treat your movement to gravity and the drop test. Not pretty. Whether you leave it all hang out and wind it around the pillars or just leave a foot or less and wind around the pillars, I used this little spring and made a small hook of thin wire. The spring probably is little more than an ounce tension and that line will go nowhere soon. Whaddya tink?

    Wull axially THORNY my attorney said I was not at risk of patent infringement. Mine are
    "Pay per Clips" and the cost is very minimal.

    The idea looks good to me, Scottie. It could be expanded to accommodate many kinds of cable clocks too :)

    I tink it is very practical use of spring, but why paper clip when spring could connect easily to plate screw spacer?

    I just found it more convenient than bending a new loop to the sprang that would fit a pillar. It's just an idea - no rules. Ersatz rules here.
