Urgos Grandfather Stops After 20 Min - No Chime or Strike

I have a 21 year old Ridgeway Liberty Centinnel Edition which has a Urgos UW 03049B movement that is cable driven. It appears to have been overwound. After 20 minutes the second hand, minute hand and hour hand will stop, but the pendulum will continue to swing. Additionally, it will not strike or chime. The 20 minute length is from any point the minute hand is set after moving the hand counterclockwise successively. The minute hand feels resistance at this 20 minute interval. The strike and the chime look to be tightest since there is only about 1/8 and 1/16 inch clearance respectively at the top of the weight . The crank feels the tightest on the chime. I've moved the hands counterclockwise to the quarter hour several times, but it will not chime or strike. This problem occurred right after winding. What is the best approach to repair this?

Thanks

Overwinding is a very rare cause of a clock not working. You say the clock is 21 years old, if it has not been serviced, cleaned and oiled, it certainly needs it.

yeah, sounds dirty to me, and those urgos movements have tendencies to wear as well. You probably call yer local clock doc and have him/her come out and look at it.

Welcome Perry! Welcome to a group of great experts (not me) who are anxious to help and love challenges. While the two suggestions were certainly good advice, I have some questions and observations. You say the clock pendulum continues to swing after the hands stop. That means I believe that the minute hand is not being driven. Now the hands aren't running into each other are they? Such as at 4:20, 10:50, 12O:clock etc.? Is the hand nut tight. Can you check? You seem predisposed to moving the hands backwards which for this clock is O.K. and mention "resistance" . Do you mean resistance that may damage the clock if forced thru or just more difficult to move the hands. Does the minute hand seem to have too little resistance or almost none at all other times ? Then "Overwound": I guess that all the weights are as far up as they can be? Look up from the bottom. Three weights? That weight on the right: Is it free to drop? Not binding in the hole where the chain or cable goes thru? If that weight is in any way prevented from dropping - the chimes won't work. Have you tried moving the hands forward to see if it'll strike? The works may be in a correction phase and only moving the hands back a quarter hour may never leave that phase. Do you hear a click near the quarter hours like something might be trying to start? There that oughta keep ya outta mischief fer awhile.
