the clock looks standard but the case and stand looks unusual
does anyone knows what for?

It looks a bit like a pin cushion but then it also appears to be covered in glass. I'd say it was a clock for a dressing table, with a stand that you could use to put jewellery, hair pins and the like.

As Zedric stated, this piece was made to be placed on a women's vanity table. The flowered dish/base was for her to put her rings and other small jewelry on at night time.
