Unusual Seth Thomas.

Someone has given me this small brass clock. I cannot find out anything about it. I cannot find anything similar on google. It has the name Seth Thomas on the front and the number 8. The clock is not working; I have dismantled it and I think what appears to be a VERY tiny click spring is broken. I have managed to get half of it out! How I will be able to replace this, I have no idea at the moment. Has anybody seen this type of movement before or know anything about it? The case is 10cm high and 6.5cm wide. I have attached some pics. Hope they are useful

this little movement similar to the respective movement by Jaeger Le Coultre was made by Kaiser Uhrenfabrik Villingen , Black Forest region of Germany. It is good quality and was sold under different brands. It costs about a fith to a tenth of the price You have to pay for a JLC
I have a movement with a broken balance shaft somewhere , if I find it You can have it.

Yes, Burkhard is right, this is really nothing to do with Seth Thomas as we know/knew them, just the name lives on.

I think they are quite attractive clocks.

Thanks very much for this information. I managed to find pictures of the movement based on your info. If you do find the movement, that would be great. I live in the UK, but would of course pay postage.
