• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

The trademark on the label is that of Mauthe - Friedrich Mauthe of Schwenningen.

Regards,
I appreciate that so much!
I accidentally posted an incomplete inquiry and ALREADY have answers!
It’s missing the pendulum and we want to know what is the correct replacement.
Does the movement seem original to the case?
Thanks so much

Inexperience mostly and because the movement mounting situation looked a little slapdash to me.
After finding photos of similar movements, I realized it was the same design.
I got it to chime for Auntie and she is thrilled and excited to fix it!

You will need a pendulum assembly (bob, stick, with top hook) and a pendulum leader, it goes at the top. Sometimes a list member will have a clock, like yours, and post a photo of the missing parts.

I've never seen a 'box clock' that color, it may have been 'antiqied' back in the 1970s? :) A good shot of the back and inside the door frame will tell the tale on that.

Thanks Willie,
You GOT it exactly right. I’m not with the clock at this point but I will be stripping the case in a few weeks.
We suspect the perpetrator was Papa
In the 1970s. To his credit he did take the initiative to remove the glass when committing the indignity. He gave a Gustav Becker Grand Sonnerie the same unfortunate treatment. My cousin is it’s current caretaker, he needs parts for it as well.

We appreciate the help!

I found an identical clock here:

Near the bottom of the page so we know what pendulum to look for.

It doesn't look bad to me, I would not erase that page of it's history. But, sometimes things do look a lot better in a photo than they do in real life. :) Willie X

I do see your point,
it’s not bad looking
but what my Auntie says goes!

I feel the same way about minor cosmetic flaws in other family artifacts. Our people put them there in the course of their lives!

Still hoping to learn more about what the pendulum leader for this movement is supposed to look like.
