Recently I picked up what looks to be a typical American time and strike (bell and gong) clock, black rectangular mantle with 6 columns. The dial says Made in USA, but no maker. The back of the movement has a symbol which looks like an "E" inside of a "C". Does anyone know what maker this may be? Thanks!

As Peter says, and of both sides of the movement as well as the clock. What you say reminds me of markings I've seen on some Sessions movements. Sessions signed their movements on the front. But, pictures will tell.

I have seen this on a few Sessions movements, and presently own one, I have not found the the significance of the marking, but it seems very uncommon.

Yes, the movement is Sessions and it is stamped on the front of the movement. The face doesn't have the name. The back label, which is mostly there, doesn't have the name. The rear has that mysterious symbol (of course, I am now curious about it and its factory meaning).
