I've got an old mahogany clock case thats as near to being black as you can get. I'd like to give it some gentle cleaning and have read that Gojo is good for this, but am struggling to find it in the UK. I wondered if anyone had found a good safe alternative?

Thanks :)

Hi Clip,

Colron and Liberon products are readily available here, and include restorers and cleaners for all wood finishes. I'm sure you'll find something suitable in one of their ranges.

Regards,

Graham

Wow good stuff that Liberon cleaner, its taken off a lot of the old polish and muck but left the original shellac finish untouched. I definitely have a brown clock case now :) (albeit still v dark brown).

Probably should have heeded the advisory to wear heavy duty impermeable gloves though. Yeah that would have been a good idea.....
