Hello All

Have just got two new clocks from auction The first is a 19th century dial clock with quite a large
fusee movement The dial is not brilliant but not a disaster I have attached pictures hoping someone
could identify the maker and approximate date I paid £170 for this one

The other clock is a 1982 Atmos clasic S/N 546983 The clock is in very good condition apart from the
finger prints on the case and runs well so far I paid £320 for this one

Any comments welcome

With Thanks

thanks for the pics. The Atmos looks swell, the bellows seem to be in good order:The attachment point of the chain to the winding device on the barrel should point at 6 o´clock like in Yours, otherwise the bellows are "lame".

Hello Burkhard

Thanks for the reply and yes the atmos is a stunning clock it is running well and keeping good time so far
As this is a new clock to my collection we will se how it goes

The other 1953 atmos has given me a lot of grief, I have had it for 12 months now and it has all ways run fast around 10min
a week but with a bit of playing around i got this down to 2min a week and the clock has run o/k at this for a long time
up till two weeks ago when it stopped all together on further investigation i found that the main spring had broken at the outer
end so the clock was not winding, So i eventually plucked up the courage to take it apart an have a go at fixing it my self
against all the advice on this forum and the internet, I got it apart and sorted the spring then put it back together and
it still did not run but at least it is winding now The next step was to strip down the main movement and clean it out
This was not an easy decision but i had nothing to loose by trying so stripped the movement cleaned it out and rebuilt
and to my amazement the clock now runs better than it ever has with well over 360 deg of rotation and keeps very good time
I don't think i would attempt this a second time though

Regards

Ouch,I wouldn´t dare! by chance I found a real competent repairer-he owns ca.50 Atmoses-and he did the job for me for what I think is a fair price 220€ ,even gave a garanty of success! They ´re grat clocks!
