• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Got a NEw Haven clock last night......Very interesting...Has Art Nouveau feet and handles. Is currently white but am unsure if that is the original color or not as the inside of the case is not white but has a natural color stain and varnish......any ideas on that? Dial is a bit abused but has potential

New Ingraham that I picked up too.....This is the one that I am wondering if it is one of the named clocks....Like the "Initial" "Exotic" Ect.....It is a pretty hefty clock!

I at least have not found either clock in Tran Duy Ly's respective books. However, I have serious doubts about the originality of the white paint on the NH.

I also wonder what you mean by named clocks in regard to Ingraham's. Generally speaking, they had names, even if only generic, like Doric, Venetian, etc.

With the Ingrahams the "Named" ones I was referring to were the ones Like the "Overture" "Symphony" I guess the ones that seemed to be ahead of their time style-wise.....They were more than just a square black box. Am I incorrect in my assumption that they were a series?

On the NH I as well do not think the current White is original as there are brush strokes visable, and there does seem to be upon closer examination at least 3 coats of paint, all some shade of white. Just what made me curious was the fact that EVERY painted clock I have run across over the years the inside was always the same color as the outside, where as this one on the inside the wood appears to be varnished pine.

I would not have thought of any of Ingraham's black mantels as belonging to a series. (Not even Seth Thomas's City Series was planned by ST as a series).

I do know that Ingraham did make some clocks in "lines," such as the Ocean Line, National Line, Summer Line, etc. These lines comprised certain gingerbread style clocks.

Then it appears to be the Dalton, shown in Tran for 1909. Black mantel with gilt ornamentations. The bases on which the columns rest and the lintels above seem to have been faux marble in design. No indication that it came in white.
