I bought this clock off of Ebay as a project clock. It was pretty much in pieces and not running. I have it together now and running well, but am having a hard time figuring out the approximate age. There are no makers marks, or any marks at all, on the works. Same for the case. There are no plastic parts, so I know it should be before the 50's. Also, this has cast brass plates instead of plates from sheet brass. Attached are a couple of pictures of the clock.

Anyone have an idea of what the age might be? 306106.gif 306107.jpg 306108.jpg

What about the nuts that clamp the movement together?
Your picture of the movement is both too small and of poor
quality to see much detail.
It is the wrong side to see the nuts.
Before WWI they used stamped nuts. The turned nuts
were cheaper through the 1920s. Also case plates were not
used much after WWI as the plate brass was cheaper to
manufacture.
The case and design show little that could be attached to
a particular age.

Dwight and all,

Thanks so much for your help. I have another picture of the works, but I don't think it's really going to show you what your looking for on the nuts holding the works together. However, I did remove one this morning and looked at it under magnification. You can definitely see shear marks on all of the sides from the stamping operation, so these are stamped nuts. Based on what you have told me, I'm going to guess WWI or before.

Thanks again for all of your help. 306261.png
