Picked up this nice wall clock at a sale, removed the back, oiled the movement, and it is running fine, chimes on the quarter, half, three quarter and hour. I could not find any identification on the movement, the dial, or any where else, maybe someone has an idea what I have here. I have attached a few photos. The string and ring ??

The trademark on the gong holder is that of Carl Werner, a German company.

That trademark was registered in 1898, so the gong holder is no older than that year.

We will need to see pictures of the movement (front and rear) to determine if Werner made your movement.

Regards.

Looks like the Carl Werner horse shoe logo on the gong stand. What does the lettering below say?

Would help to see the movement.

The following is a copy of an announcement from the firm, which appeared in an 1898 German clockmakers' journal, noting the change from the TM above to the two below. Your trademark is shown below. Courtesy Doug Stevenson.

Thanks for the information, the writing says "Victoria Chimes" still trying to figure out what the string with the the ring is for.?

Victoria is also a trade name of C. Werner.

The string with the ring is so you can synchronise the strike.
