• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Today's look at ebay...

Hmmm - just had a look at some clocks on ebay, as I do occasionally.
We have a very unusual clock
and pages and pages of new Chinese rubbish, not even worth the inordinate shipping costs.
Ho hum!

Klossee,
That is the very funny part. If you look at the top of the ebay add--the wheel cylinder is listed under collectables and clocks.

I'm glad Randy is on his toes! I didn't get the subtle humor and assumed a wrong post as well.

Sorry bout that Randy I missed the title bit. Mike's humor is a bit to subtle for a coal cracker like me. Very good Mike.

Great song. I did learn how to spell "tsotschis" (I think?). All the while I thought it was spelled "chotskis". Oh well, Mike will know.

Sorry, Chris, never heard of it/him.
Your version does appear on Google, and you can sell it/them, but a quick browse didn't tell me thay it meant! :frown:

Mike, "tsochtschski"; I believe it is Hebrew- a synonym for "cheap trinket". I am unsure of the definition. My surmane ends with a vowel, so I would not be an expert of Hebrew culture.

Mike, I think the best spelling is tschotschkes. It is a Yiddish word and like many Yiddish expressions it can be used in a multitude of ways. Tschotschkes are basically knick-knacks, trinkets, the things granny had on her mantelpiece or on top of the piano, useless bits and pieces, bric-a-brac etc. One definition I like is 'things in the house that collect dust'.
Got the idea?

I thought it was one of those dances where you stomp your feet a lot.

Unfortunately (and to my wife's chagrin), I relate to that song too well :)

Thanks for the info, fellow avocados. :)
I don't think it is a word that has reached us yet - nearest is "kitsch".

Chris
It may be Leon Tschotschke when you've had a few!!
