Could any one offer information on Tiffamy & Co as Makers.. As I understand, for a short period they made watch movements .. is this true and if so, are they in a serial number range? Thanks in advance for any solid research..

John - There is a bit of information in the Shugart Guides (several pages with types/descriptions including two marked #1516 and #13596) which notes low production for about 4 years from 1874 in Geneva which was taken over by Patek. Mike

I share Johns interest in this.

IT used to be said that they quit in the 12000 serial number range yet I have seen some as high as the 14k range.

Also, I have always been curious about this arrangement wherin, a movement that resembles Patek so MUCH was "made in a building" that was shared by Patek and Tiffany.

Would love to see agreements/rents/ads etc from that era.

I have a signed Tiffany #14,136, marked "T & Co." under the dial, that otherwise looks indistinguishable from a Patek Philippe. I purchased a very similar Tiffany watch, #12,566, that the reputable seller assured me really was a Patek Philippe. It too said T & Co. under the dial, so I returned it.
