In Jerry Bryant's recent thread,
http://www.nawcc-mb.com/bbv2/bbBoard.cgi?a=viewthread;fid=1;gtid=291449
I noticed that the mainsprings of his clock were enclosed in cups. This led me to wonder just how many Royal Bonn and lesser china clocks would have been saved if cups had been used in the movements for these clocks.
Catastrophic spring failure has led to the early demise of countless china clocks. Seems a shame that Ansonia did not use a little forethought as apparently the cupped spring movements were available.
