If you want to run the clock the correct way to silence an 8 day is to stop the rack falling. You can wire it up in the stopped position so that when released it won't fall.

Does the beak look like it’s in the wrong direction, not correct orientation?
It turns ant-clockwise and that would have it catching the rack on the curved side. Hope I’m being clear. Thanks a lot

Thanks to everyone for all the advice and help. Got the GP filed and it’s gotten rid of my problems. Lots of work filing for sure.

Only one thing to fix. It won’t strike on twelve. May have to adjust the snail or Rack. Everything else is good. Next I’ll re silver the dial.
