While the Super Bowl #49 is this coming Sunday, February 1, 2015…I have no dog in this fight…but, I hope Seattle wins. It is my thought the Patriots (I have no proof) had something to do with the deflated footballs, since each opposing team provides about a dozen for each game played during the season. Hearing the news on TV, about a million people are supposed to be in the Arizona area where the game will take place starting at 6:30 PM. I also understand more money is wagered on the Super Bowl than any other sport during the year. As I hear it...the game will be a pick…no favorites. Still the bookies and casinos in Las Vegas are in for a lot money to be made. I recall being in Las Vegas quite some years ago and betting $200 on the Philadelphia Eagles winning a football game they were playing that weekend. I can tell many stories about winning money…however, many losses supersedes any winnings I ever made. We hear many great stories about winnings and losses in the casinos in Las Vegas…one true story is some music mogul bet on throwing a higher number on a pair of dice than his opponent on one throw of the dice; the winner walked away with a million dollars. It makes me wonder what the odds would be on a man living until 100 years of life or beyond. I'll reach that goal December 11, 2015. As far as I know, only one other member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors has lived to be a centenarian. Hopefully, I will be the second; I am already a member of the 50-year Virtual Plaques with induction scheduled for April of this year. Another member of Chapter 190, Jim Chamberlain will join me on that auspices occasion.
