My home was burglarized on 3/17/2015, and my grandfather's 1928 Hamilton pocket watch was stolen. Now I am in the process of trying to find it out in the wild. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of it; however, when I was given the watch the box included a great deal of information regarding identification numbers:

    Brand: Hamilton Watch Co.
    Movement Model No: 902
    Movement Serial #: 3050487
    Case No.: 154009
    Year: 1928
    Price: $140 (in 1928)
#247 (not sure what this text means)

If anybody on the forum knows a way to identify the pocket watch model based on the Case No., your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    chris,
You have all the info that is need to ID the watch.

Most people don't have this much info , so you are ahead of the curve.

The movement # is stamped on the back plate of the watch as is the Grade # 902, In addition you have the case serial number for a 100% positive ID.

The first place to check is Pawn shops.

Thank you both for your input. One question that I've been trying to solve myself with some of this forum's wealth of resources is to try and figure out what case-model this watch was. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a picture of the actual watch, and I am not 100% sure which case it was in.

Going by the company's 1928 catalog, it looked like most of them were in 14k white gold, and that seems right to me. And using the company's 1928 catalog and comparing the 902 movement combined with the $140 pricing, it seems like it must have been one of these models: Ramsay, Brunswick, Lafayette, Hawthorne, or Decagon. I wanted to check with the forum's members to see if the Case No . that I have for the watch, 154009 , would help me associate the watch with one of these styles.

    Thank you again for all your help. 1928 Hamilton Brunswick.jpg 1928 Hamilton Decagon.jpg 1928 Hamilton Hawthorne.jpg 1928 Hamilton Lafayette.jpg 1928 Hamilton Ramsay.jpg
