While being transported to me via UPS, a Waltham Vanguard 16S, 23j in a plain open face gold filled case disappeared sometime after arriving at the Hodgkins, ILL. UPS center. It is SN 19002056. The box was lost for a couple of weeks, then UPS apparently found it and shipped i to me. I opened an empty box, all that was in it were the receipts from the auction house and the shipper.

I've attached photos of the watch from the auction.

What did UPS say about it? had the packaging been opened that you could see? Was it insured?

The package was fully taped shut when I got it, but could have been opened and then re-taped. I was VERY suspicious when I picked it up, because it was so light, I shook it lightly and it didn't feel like there was anything in it...so I took some photos prior to opening it.

The UPS just basically said it was lost and to file an insurance claim, since it was shipped insured.

I'm not happy about it, would MUCH rather have the watch!

They usually turn it into quick cash at a pawn shop. The Pawn shop may list it on eBay. I would put it a eBay search and if it turns up you will get notified.

Don't forget to check with the "point of sale" people; what was their 'weight' at shipping time.

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the UPS shipping label, and it said the weight was 1 pound, so I think there WAS a watch in the box when it shipped.
