Small Dutch "schippertje" (skipper) clock, early 19th century

Here is my recently bought dutch skipper clock, in the Netherlands called "staartschippertje" for small tail skipper. This type of small clocks was used on board of the boats that sailed the rivers, lakes and canals in the Netherlands during 18th and 17th century. They have a verge escapement and a very short pendulum which results in a very fast ticking clock which kept on running even when the boat was on one side during sailing. This one dates from around 1820.

Was the dial artwork retouched with new outlining after it faded, or is does the outlining appear to be original? One of the things I enjoy most about these dutch clocks is the painted dial artwork. Thanks for the demonstration videos.

You have a keen eye for detail You are absolutely right, the outlines are "restored", they almost always are faded or completely gone. I also like the painted artwork a lot, the earlier the clock, the better the artwork (mostly) Just take a look at the artwork on my kortstaart klok, thats an 18th century paintwork.
