Well got home a little early today, due to weather and frozen pipes at home. Got them unthawed and tackled the clock. After removing the wood frame I went to move the minute hand to only find out the hour hand was, in fact, locked up from moving any farther by the second hand. So, I am going to remove the second hand and see if this will stay running. For some reason this keeps backing out. Will have to see if there is a way to 'snug' the fitment of it onto the shaft.

Sometimes a little clear fingernail polish will keep them in place. Alternately, you can squeeze the tube a little. I'd recommend an adjustable vise grips, and go slow. Too tight is a bear to fix!

shutterbug I was just going to post that I did see that there was a split on the tube when I took it off on Friday. I was going to leave it off but I used a small pair of needle nose pliers and gently squeezed the end. Got it back on as close as I could to the dial and restarted the clock. I wound it up yesterday and I just looked in on it thru my remote camera. Still running right now. Will see if it makes it past the same point tonight in the morning. The last times I had moved the hands to set the time, it moved past the second hand and on Friday it was way out and I could not turn the hands to set the time.

I am truly hoping that this was all it was and it will now run without issue. If it does stop tonight, I will revert the hour cannon etc. to original and then see how it goes.

Well as of this post, I am happy to say that it is still running. The second hand has not come back out any further than where I set it last Friday. So if anyone ever has this issue, check for hand interference. By eye it didn't look like it had any problems and I was able to move the hands myself the times it quit, with the exception of Friday. It don't take much for it to hang up and stop it that is for sure. Will see how it goes the rest of the week and will post if it makes it all week.

Well I was going to wait till I reported back on how this turned out but seeing it has made it past what would of been the usual time it would have stopped, I figured I would say that it is solved. (Somehow I might have just jinxed myself by saying that:banghead:) It has ran just fine since I tightened up the second hand tube so it wouldn't work it's way back out. So for anyone who ends up down this rabbit hole, check the hands! LOL Something so simple can sure drive you crazy trying to figure out why it won't stay running that is for sure. To everyone who commented to check this or that, thank you for the tidbits of information as while still learning all of this, it is valuable information to know.
