For some odd reason I have gravitated toward collecting 19j watches.
Maybe other people can share some of theirs as well.

I will start with a 16-size, 19-jewel Illinois, model 11, open-face, Bunn grade movement, built in about 1919.
My understanding is that there were 15,900 of this version made between about 1917 and 1925.
(but I have also seen figures of 14300). It's in it's original case, with very nice clean plumb colored hands(the color can't be seen in photo).
The dial does have some damage, but I'm not going to change the original dial(it doesn't bother me it has
history). It does have one of my favorite features on a 19j watch, the exposed gold jeweled motor barrel, and gold gear train.

Here is 19-jewel Waltham Vanguard -- basically a 17-jewel movement with jeweled mainwheel. The diamond endstone is a nice touch on these.

[not the original case, but fitting I think]

    Mike,

The Hamilton 902 is a 12s(and a nice watch), but for now this
thread is for Standard watches(watches that
would have been approved for RR service).
    I have quite a few 12s 19j watches too(as well as 0 size)
Maybe we will start another thread..;)

There are many people out there that believe only lever set watches
can be Standard watches(approved for RR service). This is simply not true.

"Pendant-set watches were still being accepted for time service up to about 1906-1908.
That seems to be the transition period after which watches had to be double roller,
be marked as adjusted to 5 positions, needed Arabic dials and had to be lever-set."

"The requirements really narrowed down by the end of the 1920's to 16-size 19-jewel
minimum open-face, lever-set watches with Arabic dials. These rules remained in effect for another thirty years."
