Not one of my oldest clocks, but still I like it very much. Have it for years now and a has a nice provenance. Since the 1830's it stood in the Clungunford House Craven Arms, owned by the Rocke family. I even know where in the house it has stood for all those years. Movement and dial is signed Payne, 163 New Bond street.

It was a very busy street for high class jewellers and clockmakers. Perigal and Duterrau were there, wasn't Grant there too?

    Hi Nick,

I think he was in Fleet Street.

Ah yes, quite right Graham, another great address. My ancestors were there too, meanwhile we were in New Bond Street on Saturday.

Another round fusee movement. Brings to mind that old saying 'I've been waiting hours for a bus and then all of a sudden two turn up".

Yes it is a nice quality clock that at first glance is almost impersonating a French marble clock which has made its way from Shropshire to Holland.

Beautiful clock with a nice simple design!

BTW, nice to see you back on the board, Peter. I missed your contributions for some time.

Very nice and the movement is so crisp looking. No extra frills, just good clean design. Interesting pendulum rating device.

Yes, it's nice to see you back Peter.
