Shape of escapement teeth?

Hi Guys,
I am currently looking into how to go about drawing and making a recoil escapement including the anchor. I have found little to no explanation from the many books I have into what criteria to create the curves on the teeth. I will hazard a guess that if you decide on a suitable curve for the pallets then I see no reason not to use this for the teeth. Trouble is when your down to guessing your in dangerous territory.

Anyone got any idea or pointers including books or articles?

I agree that "Laurie Penman: Practical clock escapements" is a great resource, but I would recommend you take a look at Mark Headrick’s work “Clock and Watch Escapement Mechanisms” ( http://www.abbeyclock.com/EscMechanics.pdf ) which is an amazing resource on escapement design that includes step by step descriptions on the design a number of escapement types. Mark's work is a free downloadable .pdf.

I would be careful about using Headrick's impulse angles. They deviate from standards developed over centuries. Penman won't lead you wrong.
