I recently picked up this Seth Thomas Sons & Co. clock. The dial has a NY manufacture label, but the movement references Thomaston. The closest case resembling this clock that I see in the Tran Ly book is the Sterling (12" tall, 4" porcelain dial), but this one is only 10.5" high with the 4" porcelain dial. While cleaning the case, I thought there might have been a hint of gold paint, but not in the section where it is seen on the Sterling. The movement also says Seth Thomas, but doesn't look anything like the mantel clocks or even tambour clocks that I've seen before. Looks more like a German clock inside.
