I have a Seth Thomas ship's bell clock, with outside bell (see attached pic). According to the ST 1910 catalog, these clocks were available in either brass or nickel plated cases.

My clock is nickel and has a brass bell. The case needs replating. Does anyone know if the bell on these clocks was always brass or whether the nickel plated version had a nickel plated bell?

Many thanks for any help.

Thanks Will, that's really helpful. Nickel bell looks good with the nickel case and I guess that's how it was originally.

Many thanks for you time and help.

I once repaired one of these for a friend. It had the nickel bell as well.

Thanks Uhralt, with your and Will's advice I now have the confidence to get the bell plated.
