I am about to embark on this adventure to disassemble, clean and reassemble this movement, possibly changing the cord along the way.

Are there any particular tips as to what I might encounter along the way?

If it were yours would you replace the cord with gut, synthetic gut or cable?

Thank you.
Dick

what he said... definitely/always change the cord so you know what you're dealing with. 1mm braided nylon cord would be great... i use the smaller diameter kevlar fishing line options for vienna regulators, etc.

lovely movement... you'll have fun working on it.
