Hello!

I just bought an interesting little shelf clock. The dial reads "patented May 1863". It has its original purchase receipt attached to the back board. It reads "Sold at 80 East Washington Street, Indianapolis Indiana. Oct 17 1864"

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!

Neal

Nice early version of the Octagon Top. Tran shows it in Vol. 1 from the 1879 catalogue in the Cottage Clocks section, and again from 1865 (no catalogue picture, but a photo), with what seems to be the same movement, in the Mantel Clocks - Wood Cases section (Vol. 2). So, a longish production life.

Always liked this ST model. Nice example.

Nice glass. Have also seen these with Fenn glasses.

Shape of the movement plates reminiscent of those used by Terry and Andrews.

With that date on the receipt in the clock, label should have the Plymouth Hollow place name, as should the movement.

Enjoy!!

Hey Neal,
Very nice clock. I really like the angled trim on the case. That bell should be heard in your neighbors house. NIce feature instead of a gong. This was a good find.

Hello!

Thanks for the comments guys. I bought this clock from the estate of the man that serviced our court house clock for 60 years. He had an interesting collection and workshop. It was a pleasure to see his workshop and meet his family.

Thanks!
